La Taula Periòdica vista pels artistes

A principis d’aquesta setmana, Claudi Mans em va enviar una interessant Taula Periòdica per a la meva col·lecció. Es tracta de la Taula Periòdica resultat del projecte Periodic Table on Show, dut a terme per The Royal Australian Chemical Institute (RACI).

Un total de 79 químics i 38 artistes han participat al projecte i, treballant colze a colze, han aconseguit posar (pintar) cara als 112 elements (els batejats de l’actual Taula de 118).

Al mateix web del projecte llegim,

To celebrate the International Year of Chemistry in 2011, 79 chemists and 38 Tasmanian printmakers have joined in researching and then representing aspects of three randomly allotted elements from the 2010 official IUPAC Periodic Table of 112 elements. Chemists prepared background information to assist the artists in their interpretation of each element.

The printmakers have a range of experience from career printmakers, to final year School of Art students to professionals in other areas who also have an art practice. They have used recognised traditional forms of printmaking, including etching, relief printing, lithography, monoprinting, screen printing and digital printing.

Només de veure aquest projecte australià em va venir al cap una altra Taula Periòdica, que vaig descobrir deu fer un parell d’anys gràcies a l’amic @eloy_raco. És evident que els australians coneixien el projecte The Periodic Table Printmaking Project.

Al web hi llegim,

Ninety-seven printmakers of all experience levels, have joined together to produce 118 prints in any medium; woodcut, linocut, monotype, etching, lithograph, silkscreen, or any combination. The end result is a periodic table of elements intended to promote both science and the arts.

I una preciosa expressió que simbolitza el casament entre la ciència i l’art;
